Back on Track

Scott had the past 9 days off from work. He was gone the first couple visiting his friends in Oregon, but after that we just sat around the house and did absolutely nothing. I have noticed that nothing gets done around the house when Scott is home. I'm not saying that he doesn't do anything, because that is far from the truth. He is great to help out when needed. Dishes, laundry, vacuuming, whatever. I'm just saying that when he is home neither of us want to do anything. We just want to veg, or go out and play. That makes for a lot of "catch-up" when life resumes to "normal". So that is where I am today. Catching up on all the things that I let go while I enjoyed the week with my husband.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow night. Trunk or Treat is always so fun. I love to see all the little kids in their costumes. My kids are excited too. Caleb keeps asking if today is the day. He has been asking for a week and every day he gets so disappointed when I say not yet.

Congratualtions Jessica!

Last night we had the priviledge to celebrate a special occasion. Scott's sister, Jessica, has overcome more than a lot of people can even imagine. Last night we had a party to celebrate her 2 year mark of being clean and sober! How exciting!!! She has given up an old lifestyle and embraced a new one. She has given her life to the Lord and through Him she is making it...day by day. I cannot begin to express how proud we all are of her and how far she has come. Jessica, you are an amazing woman, mom, sister, daughter, and friend! I am proud to be your family. We love you!

Happy Anniversary!

Today Scott and I celebrate our 12 year anniversary. I just want to say that I am blessed to have been able to spend the past 12 years with my best friend. Scott, you have been an amazing husband and a great friend. I look forward to the memories we have yet to make.

I LOVE YOU!

Yawn....

What is it about the rain that makes me want to sleep? I am always so sleepy on rainy days. All day today I just wanted to curl up in a blanket and sleep. I didn't though. I was able to get my laundry done and cookies baked...I even made it to the grocery store. Whew!

Letting Go

My daughter is at the age that she wants to pick out her own clothes and do her own hair. I have to admit, this is SO hard for me! I try to direct her a little by letting her know if something doesn't match, but she doesn't always care and will wear it anyway. It's hard for me to let her leave for school. I'm afraid the other kids will make fun of her. I don't want her to have to go through that. But I also know that she needs to learn and grow. This is an area I am working on. Saying all that, here is a picture of My Girl today:

Also, last night she decided she wanted to pull out one of her loose teeth. She sat in the bathroom for about 30 minutes and came out with it!

She was so excited that she started testing all the other teeth to see which one she could pull next! Here is the loot she got from the "Tooth Fairy."

Sleep Tight My Love

Being a stay-at-home mom is the best thing I have ever done. I am so blessed to be able to spend this time with my kids. However, it's not always roses and sunshine. There are many a nights when I finally get the kids into bed and I sit down utterly exhausted! I think there is no way I can do this again tomorrow. Now, that isn't often, just on those days when I feel all I have done is scold, spank, and stop arguments over and over again. Then I go in to check on them before I go to bed and all I see are the most precious faces in the world! Faces that say, "I love you mom", faces that kiss me, faces that giggle and make me giggle. I think I could literally explode with all the love I feel towards them. So I was thinking....Do you think God made us to sleep, not only for our physical well-being, but so that in those times that we aggravate and frustrate Him with our disobedience and arguing, He has that moment when we are at complete peace and rest and He can look down at our faces with overflowing love? I can imagine He is smiling as He strokes my cheek and brushes back my hair. And then, ever so gently, kisses me softly and looks forward to what tomorrow will bring.

Father, thank you for these precious children You have entrusted to me. I ask You for the wisdom and understanding in raising them to love and follow You. I ask for a special blessing for all of my friends and their families today. I Love You, Lord! ~Amen~

Argh!

We were at the store this week and Caleb found these pirate accessories. When he got home and we put it all on he looked at me and said, "Argh Ladies!". I laughed so hard! Here is a picture of my confused pirate:

On a side note...Notice the scratch on his neck. He loves our new kitten and is constantly trying to hold her when she doesn't want to be held. She finally got tired of it and let him have it. He was pretty upset for....a few minutes. I figured this would teach him to leave her alone. Not so much. Next thing I know he is crying again because he got scratched a second time. Guess that's the price you pay for loving your pets.

New Hobby

Monday night I got to spend the evening with my friend, Lorene. I have been slowly getting into beading, so she had me over to show me all the "tricks of the trade". We met at Craft Warehouse where she helped me pick out all the tools I would need. After that we went to her house where I created these:

This was the first time I had worked with charms. I think I am addicted to beading now. I can't wait to make more. I keep thinking about whose birthday is coming up so I can make them one, or what outfit I have that needs a matching bracelet!

On a side note...I was taking pictures the other day and Caleb wanted to take some too. The end result was a bunch of blurry pictures of the ground and the walls. However, he did get this one and I thought it was funny so I have to share it:

Great Weekend

This weekend was so nice! Friday was my Dad's birthday, so we had dinner at my parent's house on Friday night. After eating some yummy homemade mexican food, Scott, Kenzie and I went to clean the church. It was our weekend to clean, so we met our friends there and had it done in an hour.

Saturday my sister-in-law came over with her girls. The kids all played while we visited. When she was getting ready to leave she offered to take Kenzie and Caleb with her. They were going to see a movie and then they would spend the night at her house. Let me say...I didn't have to think long about that! What a blessing it was to have a whole night alone with Scott!

Scott & I went to church on Saturday night. After that we went to our friends (Mike & Erin) for dinner. It was nice to just visit and relax. We got home on Saturday night and HAD to watch a couple of episodes of 24!

Sunday we got to sleep in. So nice! I made a huge pot of Taco Soup and took it over to my in-laws for lunch. We just all sat around and ate and visited while the kids ran around and played.

I'm starting to see a pattern here. Lots of visiting and eating! As I am writing this I am feeling overwhelmed with how blessed I am. God has blessed me with 2 amazing families who I love SO much, and the best of friends. It makes me want to cry, and laugh all at the same time!
