The weekend is over and it went WAY too fast. I got to spend the afternoon with my baby sister on Friday. I enjoyed that so much! She helped me get dinner ready for a party I had that night. It was fun having the girls over. Some of them I haven't had a chance to visit with in a long time, so it was nice to catch up.
Saturday was nice and slow. Got to sleep in and lounge in my pajamas longer than normal. Took Makenzie to the eye doctor Saturday afternoon. She was excited to pick out new glasses. Went from the doctor to church. Had a great service, I love our church! After church we enjoyed dinner out with friends. We had a GREAT time! Looking forward to hanging out with them again!
Sunday was my Daddy's birthday, so we spent the day at my parents' house. We had a great lunch (thanks Bug), and lots of fun playing cards. We went from there to our Home Team. LOVE our home team! So glad we are part of this group.
Looking forward to the short school week. Kids have Thursday and Friday off. I'm hoping to get the project in Caleb's room started this week. I have lots of other stuff to do, so I'm not sure how far I will get.

Just a Few Things
*I finished phase 1 of Caleb's bedroom. I'm waiting for phase 2 to arrive in the mail. Should be here tomorrow. I'm guessing phase 2 will take at least a week, if not longer. I will post pics when it is finished.
* Did the Women's Fitness Celebration on Saturday. Yep, in the pouring rain. We were soaked to the bone before we ever hit the starting line. We had planned to walk at a leisurely pace (it was a 3 mile course) and just enjoy ourselves. The rain changed that plan. We ran part of the way and speed-walked the rest. We were SO cold! But it was a blast and I can't wait to do it again next year.
*Saturday night Makenzie and I went with my mother-in-law and niece to a ballet at the Morrison Center. It was Makenzie's first live ballet experience and she loved it. I can't wait to take her to another one.
*I can't believe it is the first day of fall already. Where did the summer go? I have to admit, summer has always been my favorite season. It still is, but fall is running a very close second. I am loving this cool weather. I'm not ready for the cold winter, but I do like the crisp mornings and evenings.
*I've been watching the Dog Whisperer on TV and I think I need to try some of his stuff on my Sophie. I'm amazed at what he can do with dogs.
*Looking forward to a clam week. It seems like we have all been going at 100 MPH lately. It will be nice to relax at home and enjoy some time together.

Blue is the New Red
After 3 coats of red, and it obviously needing 2 or 3 more, I decided to paint it blue instead. I only have one coat of blue on so far and it looks better already. I will only need the normal 2 coats of blue. Whew! Now I just have to figure out the rest of my decorating scheme.

UGH!
I started painting Caleb's room yesterday. I bought bright red paint to paint a strip on the top of the wall. I already have 2 coats on it and it looks horrible. You can see all the streaks from the roller. I'm hoping today, now that it is 100% dry, one last coat might do the trick. If not, I may be altering my painting plans.

Help a Girl Out!
I'm wondering if there is anyone out there who has a hobby of making/decorating cakes. I'm looking for someone who could make a wedding cake. Scott's daughter is getting married in June and is on a tight budget, so we are looking for cost cutting ideas. If you do cakes or know of anyone who does, please let me know. Also, if you have any suggestions on money saving ideas, I would love to hear them.

Surprise Weekend
This year for Scott's birthday I decided to surprise him with a weekend away. I made all the arrangements and just waited for the day. His birthday was on Friday, so it was perfect. He wanted to go to Art in the Park after work on Friday, so we made plans to meet at the bank after work. He was expecting both Makenzie and me, so was a little surprised when I showed up alone. I told him the kids were staying at his mom's so we had the evening to ourselves. We headed to the park and spent some time walking around and enjoying the fun things to look at. After a little while we decided to leave to find something to eat. We were in the car talking about where to eat and I asked what was over in the State Street area. Scott said there was nothing really over there and that it would be out of the way since we still had to go back to the bank to pick up his car. He told me to head back towards Fairview Ave, so instead I turned to go towards State Street. He got quiet for a minute then said again that there was nothing in that area. I said I know but I still want to go over there anyway. He asked where it was that I wanted to go and I said over where Highway 55 starts. He looked at me with a very perplexed look on his face and said, "To Home Depot?" I laughed! I told him no, that I had reserved a room for 2 nights at the Ashley Inn for his birthday. He was so shocked that he just sat there and stared at me. Finally he started asking questions ...What about his car that he left at work. He didn't want to leave it in the parking lot all weekend. I told him that I had already given his parents the spare key and they were picking it up that night and taking it to our house. The kids were staying with his parents and the puppy was staying with my parents. It was so much fun to surprise him! We had the most relaxing time. We slept in, had late breakfasts, went to antique stores, small country stores, ate at several little "hole in the wall" places that were DELICIOUS, and spent lots of time just vegging in the room...or, for me, soaking in our jacuzzi tub. It was a great weekend that wouldn't have happened without the help of many. Thanks to Scott's family for keeping the kids for the weekend. Thanks to my family for keeping Sophie. And thanks to Doug for finding a replacement for Scott on worship team. You guys rock!
