Makenzie's First Concert

Last night Scott and I got to take Makenzie to her first concert. I thought it would be more fitting to let her share her experience. The following it a post by Makenzie:

So, over spring break my mom said that if I read thirty minutes every day she would do something SPECIAL with me. That something special was taking me to my first concert ever! But what I absolutely loved was that it was a Carrie Underwood concert. So you know, I adore every song that she sings, writes, and remodels or redoes. I had the time of my life... although we were in top row seats. My favorite part was when the audience wasn't screaming. My least favorite parts were when we had to wait so long for Carrie to come out ,and also when the audience was screaming and we couldn't here her singing.Well, anyway, I had a great time at my first concert.

Freedom Isn't Free

It's Memorial Weekend. More than just a long weekend to catch up on stuff or hang out with friends or family, it is a weekend to remember the ones who have given up their time, family, and even lives for the freedom we have today. To those who have ever served or are currently serving in any branch of our armed forces, I say THANK YOU! To those who have a loved one serving now, THANK YOU! To those who have lost a loved one, THANK YOU! May we never take our freedom for granted.

So Close I Can Taste It

Only 3 and a half more days of school!

Frustrated!

**WARNING: The following is a venting session.**

I'm am so tired of people thinking they have a right to butt in to your personal business and pass judgement on how you live your life! I'm sick of people who have to have "their say" when you don't do things the way they think they should be done, or the way THEY would do them. To these people I say, "MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!". If your opinion is wanted, you will be asked.

I'm sorry to be so negative, but I am struggling today. Your prayers would be appreciated.

Oregon Trail

Yesterday I had the privilege, once again, of joining my daughter on a class field trip. I guess it wasn't really a field trip as much as it was just a trip to the field. The people who run the Wagon's Ho of Idaho program brought all of their stuff to the school and set up in the field. It is part of their Idaho History lesson. The kids got to wash clothes on a washboard, make wooden buttons, make homemade butter, chop wood, rope an iron calf, brand cardboard and leather, and so much more! It was a lot of fun. The kids even got to help prepare lunch for the adults. Here are a few highlights:

Splitting wood

Posing with her branded cardboard.

Chopping potatoes for lunch.

Washing clothes (this was one of her favorites).

Getting the hang of the lasso.

Sawing wood.

After "working hard" they got to play some games.

It was windy and a bit on the cool side, but we still had a blast and came home with a slight sunburn. I'm am so blessed to be able to share in these memories with Makenzie.

I Love My Life

Thanks to my husband and kids for a great day yesterday. From the moment they got up, my kids were doing everything they could to make me feel special. I received a great gift (thanks Scott) along with many treasured homemade things from them both. We spent the first part of our day with Scott's family. His parents, sister, and nieces were all there. We had lunch together and the kids had a great time playing outside. Later in the afternoon we went to my parent's house and played cards. It was a great day spent with the people that we love.

Caleb said a couple of funny things yesterday:

-After he woke up and told me "Happy Mother's Day" he said he was going to go to his room to find me a special toy from his collection..."because that's what kids do for their mom's on Mother's Day". (His exact words.)
After a few minutes he came out and told Kenz that he couldn't find the one he was looking for and asked her to help him look. She was doing something else and said she didn't want to and he said, "But sisters are supposed to help their little brothers."
After looking a while longer he came in with his hands behind his back and asked me, "Mom, have you always wanted a telescope?" I answered with a very enthusiastic "I HAVE!". He smiled so big and held out his toy pirate telescope and said, "Happy Mother's Day!". It was so very sweet.

-Later that day as we were getting in the car to leave he started whining about something, so I calmly said, "Buddy, it's mommy's special day. Can you please not whine?" I closed the door and as I opened my door to get in this is what I heard, "Dad, why does it get to be HER special day?" I laughed so hard!

We ended our evening with the finale of Survivor. I was very disappointed in the outcome, but I guess that's all part of the game.

~Under Construction~

**EDITED**

I will be reconstructing my blog. Since I have few computer skills, it will most likely take all day. And may not look different in the end.
**I looked at different blog backgrounds all day and can't find one that I like. HUMPH!!**

Cat and Mouse Games

When we bought our house last year, one of the things we loved about it was the large field behind us. Well, less than a month after moving in, the construction started. They are turning it into another subdivision. When this started I told Scott that I wanted to get a cat. I figured that with the construction would come mice being driven out of their home. Scott, not being much of a cat person, reluctantly agreed and let me get a cat. She has been a great pet. We all love her. Well, this past week she has convinced Scott of her "worth" :O) She has caught three mice in the backyard. She loves to play with them. She will grab them by the tail and throw them up in the air and then pounce on them. As disgusting as it is, it is pretty amusing to watch. While watching her on Saturday I had to snap a couple of pics:

This one is almost cute. If you click on the picture it will get big and you can see the mouse in the grass looking up at her.

This one is her getting ready to throw it into the air.

Disgusting? Yes! But better her than me, and better outside than inside.

Not Much

I haven't posted in a while, but there really hasn't been much going on. We have been busy, but just with your normal, everyday sort of things. Nothing worth wasting your time over. We did have a chance to get away without the kids last night to attend the wedding of one of Scott's former co-workers. I didn't know the couple getting married, and I didn't know anyone at the reception, but I still had a great time. The people at our table were great and we spent the evening laughing and eating. It was a lot of fun. Today is just a little yard work and then off to church tonight.
